Approach us by email (using the form below) with your idea, but look first at the books we have already published to see if your book ‘fits’.  Your book  should present a distillation of the results and ideas resulting from your research rather than the raw data itself.   In that sense,  the success of your book depends on making the reader want to visit the 'places' you describe, whether real or figurative.  Ideally your narrative should be set  along 'itineraries' that the reader can follow  with the help of maps and an easy to understand text.

 

Include in your email:

 

• an indication of which series your book would be part of :

  • Early Materials and Practices

  • Archaeology, Ritual and the Landscape

  • Artists and their Materials

• the book title and its likely length

• a summary (in c. 250 words) of the project you would like to publish

• the author and co-author(s)

• a statement about why you are writing this book and who you are writing it for

• the range of illustrations you have and an indication of how many there may be
